Pie For Breakfast.

"Let us remember the little things.
When we wake up, we open our eyes and we can see.
We look in our cupboards and they're full.
And we have a coat to put on our backs."
I've always loved Thanksgiving.
I am amazed by the kindness shown to me this American Thanksgiving.
Everyone, and I mean, EVERYONE I know invited me to spend the holidays with their family.
Even people I don't really know, offered their home to me for the entire weekend!
People I work with, have class with, pass by in the hall...
I was so very touched.
I hope I show that kind of love to those I just met.
...and those I have known a very long time, too.
 After a relaxing and homeworked-filled
(and pie for breakfast) break...
And writing many, many thank you notes due to the most recent kindnesses shown to me,
I am feeling confident about the next three weeks of this life of mine.
(And all that's in store for when these weeks are done, too).
In the meantime, I will keep doing what I always do.

Rely on my Heavenly Father.

Try to remember to always walk with gratitude in my heart.
(And occasionally wear polka dots and stripes, too).

Dress: Romy (Black Friday find)
Flats: Target
Polka-Dot Tights: Walmart
"Sock Bun": The lovely Mckenna
P.S. I'm over here at Sunday Style.

Remember, always.

My Canadian roommate and I both wore poppies to church on Remembrance Day this past Sunday.
Then in Kindergarten on Monday, I taught a lesson about Veteran's Day. I told the children it was a very special day where we do a lot of remembering. I asked the students if they know what we should be remembering, especially today.
A little girl, bless her sweet heart, raised her hand and said,
"We should always remember that no matter what, we can always have the chance to live with our Heavenly Father again."

I paused and then said,
"That is very, very important to always remember.
Today we are going to remember some other important things, too..."

What a tender reminder to remember.

Next Year, I'll Be the Hulk.

Halloween:
I've always loved to dress up.
I remember being a little girl and insisting one year on being the Little Mermaid-
I was so determined that I wore my little sequinned mermaid "belly shirt" on top of my snowsuit.
(Remember, I'm a Canadian girl. And Halloween usually equals lots of snow).

Now, I teach children who are about the same age as my Little Mermaid self. A few weeks ago, a student was struggling to take the lid off the paint. I dramatically opened it for him and he exclaimed, "Oh my goodness, Miss Christensen!
You should be the Hulk for Halloween!"

Sorry to disappoint, but I decided to arrive to my Kindergarteners looking like this lady...
I wore this costume from 9am-midnight.
I went to work, studied at the library, bought groceries, went to Dairy Queen...all as Dorothy.
My favourite part:
Everyone called me Dorothy, too. At the store, my room mate insisted on paying for my groceries...I was explaining to her that she didn't need to do that...and the Cashier man suddenly exclaimed,
"Quit arguing, Dorothy!"
I was talking to a another secretary from behind a desk earlier and she could only see my face and hair. The first words she spoke: "You are the cutest Dorothy ever!"

And the list goes on.

Maybe I should be Dorothy more often.
I wouldn't mind giving cute lions new hearts everyday.

...Or perhaps, I'll just embrace that Hulk idea.
