This weekend, wishes were blown up and away.
For Carly Beth's birthday we travelled to a quaint house on the side of the lake. It was a perfectly calm night. The woman who lives at this particularly magical place had music playing from records as we tiptoed down her stone path. There we stood in the warm summer night waiting for the lantern to fill; our wishes to be wished inside the light, tissue paper. We watched in complete silence as the lantern blew further and further. It didn't feel as if we would never see it again, but more that it would come around after it made it's course through the big, wide world in the lovely sky.
"Quietude and Reverence....it's what the world needs."
Look up, curl into a warm homemade blanket. Lie down on the cool dock. It seemed as if the sky was celebrating the wish that had just been blown into the universe ever so slightly. Northern Lights danced here and there gracefully across the sky. Eyes had to look twice to know they were really there. But they were. And so were we. Lying on the dock. Together and warm. We were there. And our wishes were once there, too.
Wishes are meant to be wished. Put into the sky and believed that they will in fact come true, one way or another.
ummm... Josie dear this is such a wonderful post. I love those moments of quiteness and the ability to just bask in it. I'm glad that Carly's Birthday could be so magical.
